A tough review process later, the LEWAS Committee is proud to announce the LEWAS 2022 Award Winners and Finalists.

Abdulrahman University
Lama has participated in many events and competitions including the University of Tokyo Student Exchange Program, the KAUST Research Open Week,, the World Robotics Olympiad and the IEEExtreme 15.0 in which her team ranked the 2nd place nationally. She also interned at the Ministry of Energy, Alsalam Aerospace Industries and Ericsson.

Sumayyah Ali Alshehri

Abdulrahman University
Sumayyah is an electrical and electronics engineering student. Her first paper qualified among Riyadh level at the third Riyadh student scientific conference and has been chosen as a representative of Princess Norah Bint Abdulrahman University at the University of Tokyo's Cultural Exchange program. Sumayyah was previously the vice president of student's linking team in the university rector's office.

Bushra Alalmai

As an electrical and electronics engineering student, Bushra has interned in the Renewable Energy Deputyship at the Ministry of Energy and conducted research on “Developing InGaN Red Micro-LEDs” with her team at KAUST. She also briefly joined the Apple Developer Academy as the first batch of junior Learners in the Middle East. Additionally, she participated in various competitions such as World Robotics Olympics in 2019 and the global 24-h programming competition IEEEXtreme 15.0.

Prof. Souraya Goumri-Said
Associate Professor of Physics // Alfaisal University, KSA
In 2004, Souraya started out as an adjunct assistant professor at the Université Paris-Est Créteil in France. She then joined the physics department of technical University of Kaiserslautern in Germany, worked as researcher at Université de Namur in Belgium, later managed an industrial project within ArcelorMittal research and development department in collaboration with three universities in Wallonie region in Belgium and joined KAUST in 2010 as a research fellow. Currently, she is teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on physics for engineers, physics for life science and renewable energy storage systems.

Dr. Maysoon Nedham Awadh
Assistant Professor of Environmental & Molecular Biotechnology // University of Bahrain
Dr. Maysoon is currently teaching vital courses for BSc. students such as Bioremediation of Petroleum Pollutants and Biotechnology & Development. She is also an active facilitator in addressing the challenges of climate change for the public in the international social leadership training program. She has also moderated and participated in multiple scientific & environmental seminars, exhibitions and conferences.

Prof. Kholoud S. Almogren
Professor of Nuclear and Radiation Physics, Science College // Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University
Prof. Kholoud’s significant achievements include earning 3 patents and winning 2 gold medals from the International Feminist Invention Fair in Korea and a bronze medal from the Archimedes Exhibition in Mosco. She has edited a book for teaching students in universities entitled “General Physics/ Mechanics and Heat for University Students”.

Dr. Shabana Urooj

Dr. Shabana has served the in academia for more than 20 years and has authored and co-authored more than 170 high quality research articles in journals and conferences. She has guided seven doctorates and more than 65 masters’ theses. She has proven her caliber in Power and Energy research through her published research and editorial work.

Hala Al-Sadeg
Petroleum Scientist, Aramco
Hala's previous work experiences includes the fabrication of thin films for sensing and electronic applications, as well as experience working in Reservoir Management. Her research focuses on advanced material technologies for sustainable upstream applications in the areas of enhanced oil recovery and oil-water separation. She has also published journal papers, conference presentations, as well as filed patents.

Shahd Telmessani
Compliance and Operational Excellence Group Leader, Fire Protection Department // Aramco

Shahd proudly presents herself as one of the first female leaders to become an industrial engineer in Saudi Arabia. Shahd has made remarkable contributions to the department, organisation, and the Kingdom 2030 vision. Her efforts fall under Innovation, Digitalization, Cost Avoidance, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, Quality, Design Thinking, Governance and Safety.
Khawlah Alanqari
Petroleum Scientist // Aramco
Khawlah holds an M.S. degree in Chemistry from San Diego State University. Some of her major achievements include being granted 11 patents, more than 19 filed patent applications, and several publications in the area of drilling fluids, cementing and loss circulation. She was also shortlisted for several global awards and was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the category of the Young Energy Professional at the Energy Institute 2020 Awards.

Head of Planning and Performance Management, Project Management // Aramco
She has 15 years’ experience in project management field where she led multinational teams making measurable contributions towards Aramco’s and the Kingdoms strategic goals. Eng. Al-Dossary was a Project Manager at AMAAD Business Park, engineering and energy hub before her current role as the Head of Planning and Performance Management at Saudi Aramco Project Management.

Faten Kazem Taqi
Senior Process Engineer // KIPIC
Faten has served at KNPC MAB Refinery where she handled numerous process units such as the Atmospheric Residue Desulphurization Unit (ARDS), Diesel Hydrotreater, Kerosene Hydrotreater, Naphtha Hydrotreater, and more. She is currently responsible for overseeing the process engineering team associated to ARDS & HOC Units and refinery catalysts procurement & inventory management for Al-Zour Refinery.
Fai Aldossary
Senior Marketing Consultant (A), Domestic Sales and Marketing Department // Aramco
Fai began her career in 2012 as a Power Engineer in Houston, Texas, where she was recruited by Jacobs Engineering Group Incorporation. Following her first career step, she joined Saudi Aramco as an Electrical Engineer in 2013. In 2022; Fai concluded a two-year field leadership assignment at Ras Tanura Refinery and has the distinction of first female Maintenance and Operation Foreman in the history of the company.

Nadia is an accomplished Oil & Gas expert with an impeccable track record of over 20 years in Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences at KOC, constantly proving her ability to deliver critical and strategic initiatives that have achieved consistent business value for the sector.
She has led the implementation of the 2040 KPC strategic initiative on Innovation, to build and embed an innovation culture and collaboration across all KPC group companies among other major achievements.

Layla Abdulrahim Janahi
ESG Champion // Tatweer Petroleum
Holding over 33 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and having worked in various areas such as production operation, reservoir development and HSE, Layla is a valued member in the Bahrain Society of Engineers. As an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International, Layla launched the first “Women in Industry” workshop in 2005 and chaired multiple sessions at oil and gas conferences and workshops.
Somaya Al-Radhi
Managing Director // SLB
Somaya has held various technical and managerial positions in GCC, gaining 15+ years of experience in oil and gas. She started her career as a Field Engineer and was then promoted to different disciplines in Reservoir Evaluation and Drilling. She has also been an active member of Society of Petroleum Engineers International and American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) since 2009, President of AAPG’s MEA and currently Chairperson Elect for SPE Bahrain.

Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery

Jawahery has served as CEO at the company since 20 October 2021. Prior to that he occupied the position of President of the Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company from 2005 to 2021. His previous roles at the company include plants operation manager, urea project manager, operations manager, and engineer. He is also the recipient of awards, among which are the Bahrain Competency Medal of the First-Class award by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King Hamad International Youth Empowerment Award, and Princess Sabeeka Award for Bahraini Women Empowerment.

Mark brings over 40 years of experience in all aspects of the oil and gas industry to nogaholding. Prior to joining the company, Mark served as the Head of Group Chief Executive’s Office working as chief of staff to bp, CEO Bob Dudley. Mark stewarded bp’s executive processes and worked directly with the executive team and Board of Directors where he had oversight of investment governance and strategy development.
Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al-Aseeri

He brings a wealth of commendable academic and professional experience to NSSA. Dr. Al-Aseeri first served as an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bahrain and then became the CEO for Bahrain Polytechnic, Director - Educational Resources and Techniques Directorate at the Ministry of Education, Project Director at King Hamad Library, and Director - Technical and Vocational Education Directorate at the Ministry of Education.
